CURRICULUM

T

he WITNESS Video for Change Curriculum is a free, comprehensive resource for trainers and activists that want to use or support others in using video for advocacy. The curriculum is comprised of 7 modules and 37 individual sessions. Each session contains a power point, facilitators notes, participant notes and worksheets. The full curriculum was originally designed for a ten to 14-day training and is structured to cover both advocacy strategy and hands-on video production, with the end objective being to develop a Video Action Plan (VAP). We encourage you to remix and modify the content based on your needs.

Many elements of the curriculum are available in Arabic, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Please email training [@] witness.org for resources in these languages.

Visit the WITNESS Library to find additional downloadable resources and training videos. There you’ll find a wide range of materials, covering everything from conducting interviews to archiving videos for evidentiary purposes.

Included in each session, you will find:

  • PowerPoint slide decks (PPT);
  • Descriptions of session objectives, and what the participants will learn and experience (PDF);
  • Facilitator notes which highlight the timing and structure of the session, provide details on the resources and case studies and suggested exercises to complete during the session (PDF);
  • Participant notes to help guide trainees and provide essential information to support the session;
  • Handouts are incorporated in the session, and also in a workbook for participants (PDF).
