Updates from September 2013

In September, the team working on Forced Evictions developed an engagement strategy around our new short animation, Evict Them in 5 East Steps (developed and produced with Amnesty International). This process involved determining our elements of focus. The strategy included doing an initial blog post about the animation that was cross-posted on Huffington Post and on the Skoll Foundation website. The team also began planning for a “behind the scenes” Google Hangout to talk about the animation and the campaign which will take place on October 7th in connection with World Habitat Day. In addition, the team began discussions with country contacts on the release strategy for the animation and pushing the use of the WITNESS Toolkit in our 5 primary advocacy countries: Brazil, Cambodia, Mexico, India, Egypt. We are also now partnering more closely with International Alliance of Inhabitants (IAI) and the International Accountability Project (IAP) and attempting to connect with the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing at the United Nations.
